European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE): interview with Maria Chiara Monti
Did you know that in 2021 alone 24,147 children arrived in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta and Spain. Of these, 17,185 (71%) were unaccompanied or separated minors? 
Maria Chiara Monti, president of the Penc Center spoke about the negative impact on children's mental health
and of the young people arriving in Sicily.

In Campobello, a psychological support desk for migrants

The listening and psychological support desk for vulnerable people with a migration background and their caregivers opens today in Campobello di Mazara. The counter team is made up of professionals from the Penc Center of Palermo and the Hera Consortium, organizations that have long been engaged in activities aimed at the well-being and social inclusion of foreign people present in the area.

Migrants, the Busy counter opens in Palermo

A safe "port", where to meet and tell each other among equals: this is WGSS - Women and Girls Safe Space, the transcultural project promoted by the Penc Center, supported by the IRC (International Rescue Committee), by Unicef, and intended for foreign women residing in the capital.

Volunteer guardians for unaccompanied foreign minors,
a successful trial


The results of the experiment conducted by UNICEF, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Italian Council for Refugees (CIR) and the Penc Center (specialised in ethnopsychiatry) on the benefits of the peer approach were announced today -to-peer) in supporting voluntary guardians of unaccompanied foreign minors.
